Start Off Strong – This Ain’t no April Fool’s Joke

So here we are: the start of a new month and a new quarter – what a perfect time to get your career, your business and your life in order!  Today is April Fool’s Day; although it is a time to play jokes on each other, taking your career and your business to the level you want is to be taken seriously.

What a perfect day this is to review progress you’ve made on any goals you set for this year but it is also a great day to plan out what you want/need/have to accomplish, not only for this month but for the quarter as well.  I find that creating new gets me excited and more motivated to not only finish what I started but to take things to a higher level and to “rev up” my game, so to speak!

This is what I want for you – to take whatever it is that you want to accomplish and to (finally) get them done.  It is not only imperative that you do but your career or your business depends on it:

Review:   take out all your goal lists, your “to do” sheets, or pieces of paper lying around and write down all the items you want to accomplish. Be honest – what got accomplished and what did not; how many networking meetings did you get to; how many contacts did you make; how many clients did you see; where did your referrals come from; how many resumes did you send and what were the results – you get the idea that putting numbers to your outcomes will help you to see the ‘true’ results.

Rewrite: take any goals that are left, and add any new, and write them again.  This time, make them more action-oriented so they will motivate you to doing.  Write them daily so they become part of your thought process and of your daily life.

Commit and Affirm: make the commitment today that you will do whatever it takes to make your goals a reality; slow and steady is the course which is the one that will allow you to keep focused on your tasks and affirm that you are on the right track to succeed.

“Our goals can only be reached through the vehicle of a plan, in which we must fervently believe, and upon which we must vigorously act. There is no other route to success.”    Stephen A. Brennen

Your Weekly Action Plan  Carve out time in your day and make your goal list, complete with dates to begin and end.  Also, list any resources or people you need to accomplish them. Pick one – only one- that you will do by the end of the week and get to work.  This ain’t no joke! 🙂

I hope you have a successful month! If you need help gaining clarity on your business or career goals, or in developing your action plan, why not get help and stop the struggle. Contact me today to get started.
